There is plenty to do locally. The area around Totnes is well known as a centre for alternative and complementary therapies. For example, The Arcturus Clinic in Totnes has a large selection of books and offers a variety of treatments (http://www.arcturusclinic.co.uk).

South Devon Railway
Travel on a steam or vintage diesel train from Totnes to Buckfastleigh, via Staverton, not far from Landscove. http://www.southdevonrailway.org
Dartington Cider Press
A collection of stylish shops offering good food, glassware, crafts and jewellery. There is a branch of Cranks Restaurant here. The nearby Dartington Hall has lovely gardens and a year-round programme of music, dance, contemporary performance, theatre and film. http://www.dartington.org
Hill House Nursery
This well-known nursery is located in Landscove Village quite near Blackler Barton House. It has a lot of rare, exotic or unusual perennials
and shrubs.
